Sysop

Hey thanks for all your work on the wiki. You seem like a relatively stable individual, so I've granted you sysop privileges. --Telamon 00:55, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks, man, the Plane tutorial needs every bit of help it can get. MINDRAKER 22:17, 31 August 2008 (CDT)

That new plane page looks much sharper. MINDRAKER 05:25, 7 September 2008 (CDT)

Blogs

Thanks with the blogs. I think we need some kind of basis to judge whether a blog is 'junk'. I.e.,

1) No posts in the past 2 months
2) Less than 20 members
3) Less than so many posts...
4) Were there posts about "gee, this forum sucks", "this forum is quiet", "we need more members", "this forum is dead"...

That's how I went through the blog (if there were even posts to be read) -- were they active yes/no? Were the number of members pitiful yes/no? Were there even any posts? Yes/no? and so on.

Something fun to do

check it out and click on the builderman avatar. Answer the little quizzes that pop up. The first two are ch33z3. The last one you can actually do in your head, once you figure out the method. Have fun! I was kicking myself all the way back from the grocery store today when I realized what the last one was. I AIN'T GONNA TELL YOU WHAT IT IS, HA HA HA. MINDRAKER 13:42, 21 September 2008 (CDT)

I gave the guy a call. Maybe we'll get some different puzzles now. MINDRAKER 14:28, 21 September 2008 (CDT)
=D, the best way to get something done> Communicate.
Check out this guy's page and look at all the 'brick' models for sale. If you buy up all the brick models, you will get these T-shirts in your inventory instead:

[1] [2] [3]

I think you only need the bricks that cost money to get the T-shirts. I think the reference in the quizzes to the 2x4 bricks is a reference to the 2x4 bricks on the models on david.baszucki's page. MINDRAKER 20:32, 21 September 2008 (CDT)

O_O ZOMG!

Blogroll

Dear OutOfSpace:
I took it upon myself to organize that page, and nobody raised any issues. I'm going to ask you fair and square, do you want to manage this page? Because in a few days, when I have to go in there and clean up the mess from another jerk, and you're not there, I'm not going to wait around for you.
Now, Roblox has clearly made a blogroll. If you want to make it simple on everyone, make an official blogroll site, lock it, and we're done with it. Other users can put their sites as subpages (of their own user pages).
I want to make myself clear: I don't want to be messing around with this. MINDRAKER 23:19, 28 September 2008 (CDT)

  • Dear OutOfSpace:

Thank you for taking it upon yourself to monitor the blogroll page from now on. I now have more time now to get back to scripting. MINDRAKER 06:54, 29 September 2008 (CDT)

Update

I must have missed it, I was asleep, heh :D MINDRAKER 15:50, 27 September 2008 (CDT)

User:Mindraker/Lua Tutorials

It's not complete, by far. If you guys want to move it off my subpage, go ahead. You still need to add the rest of the tutorial pages, and organize them quite a bit. I'm thinking of trying to organize them in order of progression in scripting, but my page is very preliminary. I might add a few more on there tonight. MINDRAKER 21:24, 6 October 2008 (CDT)

Marching band

Hey, good luck with your marching band. I saw something about a bunch of bands from all over playing in DC. If that's you guys, that sounds like fun... and lots of competition! Does ROBLOX play the sax? I need to do some more work with the Function Dump page... there's lots of stuff on there I haven't even tried yet. MINDRAKER 04:51, 10 October 2008 (CDT)

The "spam" page list

Congrats again on your sysop selection. By the way, I propose we just leave the "spam" page list on Mr Doom Bringer's page -- it's where it's been forever, it works... we know it, we love it... MINDRAKER 18:03, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Anaminus has made a nice list of his assessment of deletable pages. Most of them are probably going to be fair game, be careful with the redirects not to delete the thing they're directing to, though.

I'd be careful not to just delete everything, though. If something "links" to it, I'd check first if the link should be fixed. MINDRAKER 20:53, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

AOTS

Why don't you just ask him for the map/script since we're die hard fans? MINDRAKER 09:57, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Lag is one major issue on that map. I would love it if there were some reasonable "cap" on the number of copies that a user could make. I think simplicity was one of that map's best features. MINDRAKER 19:25, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
One thing I liked about the old AOTS was that there was no "VIP". Everyone was simply building against the slimes. VIP can get nasty -- idiots doing things like blowing others up with rockets, when all you want to do is build a tower. Keep it simple, elegant, straightforward... MINDRAKER 22:00, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
I don't know, it was fun building beyond the edge... that was one of the funnest things to do, imho... MINDRAKER 04:28, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
I did find that the old AOTS did get a little more laggy when they went from all-green to a multi-colored game. MINDRAKER 04:57, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Nice job on the wall, now people can't slip by. I think the old aots is back up with new edits (http://www.roblox.com/Item.aspx?ID=1847121) MINDRAKER 21:04, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Hi Outofspace, here's an idea for when you enjoy scripting again and have had some sleep... :D Imagine if while the slime are coming - someone were to grab the baseplate and shake it up and down once - sort of to create an earthquake! The slime would go bouncing around - players would go all over - and there would be a rain of loose bricks! And the strength of the earthquake could vary - as could the direction of the shake! :D cecibean 01:44, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Workspace ;)

Oh, I guess MAYBE we could keep that one ... MINDRAKER 04:44, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Slow down.

Woah woah woah, slow down a second.

Any pages that I've edited and have not removed are normally ones that can and should stay, the Conceptual design pages are ones that should remain, they go more into the theory of how things work. I wish that there were more of them.

Second, ask my permission before you go editing any of the MediaWiki message sections, such as the part below on the editing page.

Third, before you go deleting any tutorials make sure that there are tutorials that are very similar or better written. Pages like "How to remove lag from a place" detailing how to reduce snaps, anchor bricks etc. is perfectly fine. Another beginner's guide is not.

---Mr Doom Bringer 10:04, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Actually, if you have MSN send me a message on Roblox, I need to be able to contact you if need be. ---Mr Doom Bringer 10:15, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Game Hierarchy

Dear OOS:

It's getting late here, but just off the top of my head, isn't that the Datamodel? There is also this very preliminary Game hierarchy page that is sort of half-done MINDRAKER 11:07, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeah that Game hierarchy page is kind of a mess. It is probably out of date, I got it from this web page, and it was posted a few months ago. I had copied it with the idea that I could link everything on it in the wiki, but soon I realized that not everything was going to have a page (like all the stuff on the chat panel).
