Template:Navigate/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Navigate.
It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template can be used at the top or bottom of multi-page articles (like books) to provide a way for the user to navigate.

Usage

This template accepts two parameters. The first is the link that should be used to go back to the previous section of the multi-page article. The second is the link that should be used to go to the next section.

Example: {{Navigate|[[First Page]]|[[Third Page]]}}

Both arguments are optional. If you do not give either of them, the corresponding part of the navigation box will not be shown. Alternatively, the parameters prev, and next can be used.

There is also an up parameter, which will display below the previous and next links.

This template shouldn't be substituted.

Remarks

Because this template is a navigation tool, it should most of the time be contained in a <noinclude> tag.
