Welcome to the Legacy Roblox Wiki

ROBLOX is an online game platform and game creation system developed by Roblox Corporation that allows users to program games and play games created by other users. In the modern day, ROBLOX is one of the biggest platforms of creativity and content creation in the world -- But that doesn't mean its past is to be forgotten! This wiki's purpose is to bring insight to the workings of the older versions of ROBLOX (2006-2012).

This help center is here to help you learn how to play using older clients, how to build using the Roblox Studio, and how to script using the Lua language.

About this new project

This site is a rehosting of the classic Roblox Wiki from 2012, on a fresh MediaWiki instance. We have plans to create new documentation and articles, using the existing platform as a base. We are still planning how and when exactly, but generally we would like to do the following:

  • New branding
  • New guides and resources
  • Game design and technical writeups on classic places and models to teach people how they work and are designed
  • Info on the current state of old Roblox, and guides on getting it set up so you can start developing games (with Novetus)
  • Redesigned home pages to be more relevant (replace quick links to defunct site stuff with engine documentation)
  • High quality screenshots and video recordings
  • Make the website more mobile friendly
  • Documenting the undocumented
  • Probably more!

This project is being led by realjame with a few other people serving as co-editors, you can find everyone here. We hope this site will be a crucial resource to help people make new games for classic Roblox, or at the very least learn about Roblox's history. Thanks for visiting!
