Please use a time in your signature. It makes it much more useful. Just use the {{timestamp}} template, which gibes the entire date in the same format as ~~~~~ does.
- The time is redundant, only the date is important. The time could only be useful for a single day. Other than that, it just takes up space in the page's source and it is just useless. And there's also Quenty, he doesn't even put the year. I prefer to put the year, though, personally. Anyways, if you REALLY care about the time enough for it to be worth it, well… you'll just look at the history… 1 February 2012
- I wouldn't say the timestamp uses up a criminal amount of space in the source code. My signature still uses up one quarter of the source code of yours.
- You could make it take even less space by replacing the date argument by the 1 argument. That'd save 4 characters everytime you post your signature. :P 1 February 2012
- Touché. However, it would actually save 5 characters! Seriously though, I see no reason not to include the time in a signature. Given that the default behaviour of mediawiki is to insert a timestamp with a date, it seems like the right thing to do.
- It'd make my signature's code bigger, which I don't really want to happen. I mean, the day I post, the time might be useful to know, but, in two months, what the time was won't matter, only the day will. 2 February 2012
