There are several reasons that worlds will not open properly.
Narrowed down, there are two main things that can happen: A: Roblox will not start. B: Roblox opens, but the world never loads.
Roblox doesn't start
There are several things that can cause Roblox not to open when you try to connect to a world with your browser.
First thing to check, is see what browser you are using. Currently, the Roblox web site and the inbuilt browser you use in the Roblox Studio are using Internet Explorer, and that is all the Roblox can start from at the moment. Firefox and Oppera are not yet supported, and you will have to either use Internet Explorer to open it, or go into Roblox Studio, where the page will open up. If you try to connect to a world without IE, you may get an error message that says "Roblox cannot start from your web browser," and that is the very error that this is.
If you aren't getting any messages, nothing at all is happening, and you are using IE 7 and the current version of Roblox, then your best bet is to re-install.
Roblox opens, but the world never loads
There are few instances that this can occur, but it does happen, and could be for several reasons:
- 1: The map is bad.
Quite simply. the map is bad. something happened when the map was made, there is some bad script, or something is preventing the map from working properly. Inform the maker of the problem, there is nothing you can do about it.
- 2: The map loaded incorrectly.
Exit and re-join the map, the map crashed.
- 3: Your internet is slow, and the map is big.
If you are playing on the internet on really slow service, and the map is big, it can take a good bit of time to actually download the map. Give it a little while.
- 4: The map DID load.
If the map seems to be running.. but it is unusually devoid of stuff, then the maker was just lazy and the map did in fact load. The maker probably just didn't do anything with the map, so it is empty. You can tell when a map is done loading, a chime is sounded.
Operating Systems (OS)
- Windows XP
Win XP is the OS that Roblox was made for, and the only OS currently supported fully. There shouldn't be any problems running it on Home or Professional editions.
- Windows Vista
Roblox still has several problems running on Vista. Try visiting any place and logging in through the toolbox, then exit and try visiting again.
- Mac
Roblox does not support the Mac OS software.
- Linux
Roblox on Linux is not supported, but there are several avenues to get it done. One way would be to run it under Wine, but it does have it's share of bugs. It is assumed that if you are indeed using Linux, then you know pretty darn well how to do a few tricks on the computer and you should be able to get it done.
