There is a distinct issue at work here. While the entire system is actually quite good, the problem is how expansive the template inclusion depth starts getting. Unfortunately the more spiderweb style the templates start getting slower to load on the final page. MediaWiki, in their infinite wisdom, added template depth limits to curb the number of DDoS attack possibilities that you could have from a very template depth intensive page.
