Free Models are models that have been released into the public domain for people to use on ROBLOX in the production of their game. Almost every game uses some sort of free model, as producing content for your game can be quite difficult. Some users look down on using free models, although this can generally be seen as hypocritical, because in the case of wanting to use meshes, hats or any other ROBLOX produced mesh, they will be forced to use free models. Also, most users will end up using skyboxes from free models. So, when developing games, don't be scared to use free models! They can be a great source of models, tools, vehicles, and more!

Fun Facts

  • A few years ago, 'Viruses' i.e. scripts that would replicate themselves in your game as soon as you hit the play button. However, these did not harm the game, although they ruined the user experience. These have been fixed by a security system setup by ROBLOX.
  • Free Models use 'Insert Service' to insert items into your game
  • You can click and drag items from the toolbox.
