| This is a plan to eliminate noobishness from ROBLOX, with several key goals:
| | {{delete}} |
| | |
| The plan is actually designed to benefit noobs, but make the game less frustrating for experienced players.
| |
| | |
| [*] Ensure that only good places are on the first few Games pages
| |
| [*] Stop pointless advertising
| |
| [*] Make it easier to create a quality place
| |
| [*] Allow newer games to become popular
| |
| | |
| ==Ratings System==
| |
| ROBLOX needs a ratings system for places so that we can see at a glance whether a place is any good or not, without having to wade through pages of comment spam to find a review.
| |
| | |
| I propose a 1-5 brick system to make things simple, and the rating should be able to be reset from time to time, for major place updates.
| |
| | |
| ==A New Games Page==
| |
| The current "Most Popular" setup of the Games page has several problems:
| |
| [*] Popular places stay popular, and unpopular places stay unpopular, regardless of quality.
| |
| [*] Multiplayer-oriented places have a very small chance of succeeding
| |
| | |
| I propose a new formula to be used by default. I will call it "Most Fun". This formula should be displayed by default, but you can still access Most Popular, Most Favorited, etc. via the side links.
| |
| | |
| The "Most Fun" page will determine a game's rank by the following criteria:
| |
| [*]Rating (see Ratings System)
| |
| [*]Users currently online
| |
| [*]Times favorited
| |
| [*]Times visited recently
| |
| [*]Time since last update (keep things fresh, we don't want the same place on the front page for a week unless there's something new)
| |
| | |
| ==Comment Rating==
| |
| Comments should be able to be rated, like YouTube. Too low of a score, and the comment will be hidden by default.
| |
| | |
| ==Graphical Scripting==
| |
| There should be an ''alternate'' scripting system, similar to Game Maker's. This is so noobs can add basic functionality without having to learn scripting. I'll add more detail later.
| |
| | |
| NOTE: This is not for my benefit, I know how to script ;)
| |
| | |
| ==Advertising System==
| |
| ROBLOX should have an advertising system, to help get new games started and avoid "other" methods of advertising (spamming comments, etc.) Here is my proposal:
| |
| | |
| A "billboard" will be in the Game Objects section of the Toolbox, which you can put in your place to earn extra tickets. It would show a place logo, title, and rating (see Ratings System) Whenever someone clicks on it, you get a few tickets, and they are transported to the place advertised. (The cross-place transportation system is a planned feature of ROBLOX)
| |
| | |
| To get your place on a billboard, just pay some tickets. The more you pay, the longer it appears, and with a higher priority. The lowest plan should be about 50 tix, so noobs can save up for a week to get some advertising instead of spamming every front page place's comments and everyone in the "People" page.

| | |
| This is just a rough draft, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know
